Disassemble the mic and rewire using a multimeter to test connections so that the ptt switch is wired separately from the microphone element. See the original circuit diagram for the speakermic here.

To be certain clip the microphone off the cord and check the continuity between the white wire and the sleeve on the small plug. This is a work in progress document for modifying a baofeng the wiring diagram showing how the cables need to be connected is attached. Despite the posted diagram im still not sure how to wire up the unmodified baofeng mic to the bitx. Its a bit tight to solder the resistors inside the plug housing but it is possible just remember to put the plug housing on the cable before soldering otherwise youll be. The mic connection seems fairly obvious too on the ring of the 35mm.
You can use a common ground return for the mic speaker and ptt. Handheld models including the ft 10r ft 40r ft 50r ft 60r vx 1r vx 2r vx 3r vx 5r vx 110 vx 150 and any other model including the ct 44 adapter and mh34b4b speaker microphone in their accessory list utilize the non threaded 4 conductor 35mm type microphone plug which is available here. I harvested a cheap baofeng handheld speakermicrophone for its cable although you can buy them here the kenwood type and bought a 35mm trrs plug from digi key. Many members are planning on using this speakermic for their mpet projects. The speaker connections seem obvious with ground on the sleeve of 25mm and other speaker connection to tip.
